Use of silicon rubber as a viscoelastic material in dampers

Abstract One of the most extensively utilized structural control devices is viscoelastic damper (VD), and significant study has gone into enhancing their efficiency in structures. The mechanical response a VD supplied with silicone rubber as material (SRD) under various loading conditions investigated this research. A conventional SRD, which made up dual layers mounted between three steel plates. total two specimens were produced. To evaluate influence strain amplitude excitation frequency on characteristics each was exposed to harmonic different values. Hysteretic loops for case extracted, variations several parameters variated inspected. results indicate that SRD high energy dissipation capacity, stable performance working conditions. Finally, proper simplified element model created using SAP2000 software impact structures, then time history analysis executed multi storey structure. Due obvious dampers’ extra stiffness efficient damping property, dampers displacement preferred reflected reducing excessive due structure movement, according data obtained.
